Doctors from the Clinics of Rehabilitation Medicine at The General University Hospital in Prague together with the University of Hacettepe in Ankara, have participated in a study about high heels and their effect on health.
The results may not be surprising, because it is commonly known that frequent wearing of high heels may lead to ankle injuries, bunions, but can also cause chronic pain in the sacral region as well as in the knees, or even headaches. Indeed, the study has shown that all those effects may occur in young women as well.
Even shoes without heels (such as flats or flip flops) are not health-beneficial. The recommended heel height is three to four centimeters.
